Poor Game at Rotherham.
Rotherham Town 1 Denaby United 1
Although Rotherham Town made good progress in the Cup tournament, their position in the Midland League is causing much anxiety, and it was hoped that the visit of Denaby United would result in a much needed win.
This, however, the Town failed to accomplish, a draw of 1—1 being the outcome. It was, indeed, a poor game. Neither side showed good form until the later stages, when play became very brisk.
For Rotherham, Micklethwaite kept a good goal, but the backs were painfully weak. A. Burkinshaw was the best of the halves. Forward, Westwood’ and Merryweather played well, but the absence of J- Birkinshaw and Lloyd was much felt, for Lumb and Kettlebro’ were decidedly off colour.
On the Denaby side, Thompson, the old Bury custodian, did several smart things. Indeed, the defence all round was good, with Kelley the shining light, but the forwards were much below form, with the exception of Dyal.
