Denaby: More Troubles

Scunthorpe Reserves 2 Denaby United 1

With three of their last five Midland league matches postponed. Denaby United returned to the league programme with Saturday’s visit to Scunthorpe Reserves. Scunthorpe led at half-time by goal scored in the 16th minute by Benson. Moore increased their lead in the 68th minute before Denaby reduced it to 2 – 1.

This was the sixth match this season Denaby have lost 2 – 1.

Tomorrow Scarborough are due at Tickhill square.

Troubles rarely come singly as “spies.” And to add to the recent loss of income through postponements. United ran into the misfortune during Thursday night’s gale. A large section of the asbestos roof was swept away. The corrugated sheeting, which was only recently erected, was shattered beyond repair and the roof of the welfare garage housing.

The bus use by the Denaby team was also missing on Friday morning – luckily the vehicle escaped damage.
