Denaby United’s Feat.
A Fright for the “Blades.”
Sheffield United Reserve 1 Denaby United 1
Denaby United played a splendid game at Bramall lane, on Saturday, and shared the points.
It was the first away point the Denaby Club had gathered since their second match of the season, when they won at Oakwell. It also the second point they had taken from Sheffield United Reserve, with whom they drew at Denaby in Christmas week. Denaby are entitled to very great credit for last Saturday’s performance. They put up one of the best Midland League games seen on the Bramall Lane ground this season.
Denaby held their own in a strenuous first half which produced no score, and in the fecund half they were the first to score, Hamilton centring to RICHARDSON, who did the trick. From this point they played like a winning team, and it looked as if they would get away with the full honours, when, midway in the second halt. RAWSON converted a splendid centre from Bolam.
There was more method and incision the Denaby attack than had previously been shown, and it looks as if Denaby United are shaking down into a workmanlike aide, though terribly late in the day. The defence too, was clean, crisp and confident, and all round, the team were well entitled to the honour of a in a capital game.
Sheffield United got a real fright, and several times during the game they s re-shuffled their forces. One of the outstanding players of the match was Lee, the Denaby goal-keeper, who had a good deal to do , and did it well.
