Denaby’s Notable Victory.
Ever since Sheffield United Reserve proved successful, Denaby has been very anxious to turn the tables, and Saturday saw this duly accomplished Bramall Lane.
As expected the match proved very exciting-, once the teams got going. That Denaby were the better side in the first half there is little doubt, for the United forwards were a sadly ill-balanced line in comparison with that of Denaby Fully determined to win, Denaby made much better use of the centres from the wings. Ball and Blackburn giving the inside men plenty of work.
Later, United attacked in great style, but the Denaby defenders sorted out the most dangerous forwards, and kept them from scoring. There were many exciting tussles after Dyal had opened the scoring in the first half, and once there were more players full length in a scrimmage near goal than standing up.
Nimrod and Kelly did well for Denaby, while,on the United side. Smith marred a good display by missing a penalty. Dyal was about the best forward, and Peart the most disappointing.
Altogether, Denaby are to be congratulated upon their victory.
