Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 20 November 1903
Sheffield Wednesday Reserves 9 Denaby United 0
Wednesday led by 2–0 at the end of six minutes’ play, and Denaby had a very warm time of it. A pretty run on the home right saw Ryalls send in a good cross, which Massey breast-plated right to Stewart, and that player headed through in very neat fashion. Massey was still kept busy, shots being rained upon him.
The Wednesday halves were more than able to hold their own, and Jarvis was never really troubled. Wednesday still kept up their bombardment, but for some time Massey kept his goal intact, defending in splendid fashion.
At half-time the score was:
Sheffield Wednesday Reserves 6 goals, Denaby United 0 goal.
Play was all in favour of the Wednesday team, who ran out winners as under:
Wednesday Res. — 9 goals.
Denaby United — 0 goals.
