Penalty Miss Loses Denaby Points

South Kirkby 2  Denaby United  1

In a hard-fought game at South Kirkby, Denaby were beaten 2-1. South Kirkby opened the scoring when HAZEL netted in a goalmouth scramble. A few minutes later Denaby were awarded a penalty for handling by Jackson, but Green made an excellent save from Guest. HARRIS increased the lead just before the interval.

Denaby were on top in the second half, but were only able to score once, through NEWEY.  Green (goal), Dyas (left-half) and Hazel (inside-left), gave good displays for the winners.

Frickley Finish Better

Frickley  3  Wath Wanderers 0

Wath Wanderers, playing with a weakened team, were defeated by Frickley 3-0. The first half was very even, but Frickley were better in front of goal. CALVER scored first after hitting the crossbar, with Greaves well out of position. The second goal was scored by WEBSTER, who received the ball in his own half, took the defenders by surprise and beat Greaves from close in. MANN added a third. Frickley were good all round side with Godfrey, Birch and Raynor the best for Wath.
