Missed Chances Lose Denaby The Points

Stocksbridge Works 4 Denaby United 2

Denaby, who gained their first win last week, were beaten when they visited Stocksbridge on Saturday.

After 10 minutes, Gibb, who had worked his way to the middle, put Denaby ahead with a good shot down. Within 5 minutes Smedley levelled the score.

Denaby worked hard and Ardron, the centre forward put them head with a well-deserved goal. Gibb, outside left gave Eustace some anxious moments.

In the second half Eustace equalised for Stocksbridge from a penalty. A fine movement between Smedley, Steeples and Rowland resulted in the latter putting s Stocksbridge ahead. Fleetwood, Ardron and Gibb worked hard for Denaby, but several chances were missed.

Rowlands passed to Dyson, who put Stocksbridge further in the lead.

Butcher saved a penalty from Ardron.
