September 1928

Mexborough and Swinton Times September 7, 1928

Turner’s Majority.

Albert   Turner, Denaby’s new outside left, was 21 on Monday, and it must have been disappointing to him that he could not play his usual clever game as a celebration of his majority.

He suffered from strain muscle. Turner is certainly Denaby’s chief discovery of the year to date.

If he maintains his present form he showed go a long way. His football career commenced in the Sheffield elementary school team and his personal club was Grimethorpe Wesleyan.

He has also played with Mansfield and Howell Sports club.

With Ecclesfield, in the Sheffield Association League competition last season he played brilliantly and got 23 goals.
