Whitwick v Denaby United
At Whitwick, in boisterous weather, Whitwick played down the slope, and had a cross wind slightly in their favour. They at once pressed, and in the first few minutes Hickinbottom scored. Whitwick continued to have the best of matters, and Denaby’s custodian saved brilliantly on two occasions from Whitmore and Hickinbottom. A fine centre by Bosworth soon after resulted in a corner. Parker scored with a capital shot.
During the interval a terrific hailstorm swept over the ground. Play for a time in the second half was confined to the centre, and then a pretty forward movement by Denaby was spoiled by Roper. Whitwick close in threatened danger, but Shaw cleared. The same player made a fine return immediately after from the Whitwick left. Renewing the attack, Whitwick, through Hickinbottom, forced a corner, which was nicely cleared.
Result: Whitwick, 2 goals; Denaby United, 0 goals.
