Wath Defence in Fine Form.
That they secured a division of points with Forest Reserves at Nottingham, yesterday, Wath had to thank a fine defence and a penalty-kick awarded them 10 minutes after the start.
Dixon was heading for the home goal when he was fouled, and from the kick Nuttall had no difficulty in scoring. It was, not very frequently that Wath attacked, but so finely did Topham and his backs play that it was just on half-time when Green equalised.
Wombwell’s Revenge Over Denaby
Wombwell’s defeat at Denaby last Friday was gloriously avenged at Wombwell yesterday. Denaby, however, fought a hard and skillful game, and there was only one goal in it, Bolsovor netting for Wombwell after 15 minutes.
The game was vigorously contested from the outset, and at times tactics became somewhat rough all round, and the referee once had to caution one of the Denaby players. For Wombwell, Redfearn, Bolsover, and the new man, Harvey, played some clever football in the forward line, while Howson kicked strongly in defence. Brayshaw and Burkinshaw worked extremely hard for the losers, and Ekins was smart in goal.
