Denaby Just Win At Worksop
Another Solitary Goal
Worksop Town 0 Denaby United 1
Denaby United did well on Saturday to credit themselves with a couple of points as the result of a hard game at Worksop. There were four Worksop men in the Denaby site, the single goal which decided the match was scored by Padley, the ex-Worksop centre forward. Denaby had the following team in the field:
Hancock; Welch and Banner; Nimrod, Kelly, and J. Westwood; E. Westwood, J. Westwood, Padley, Hobson, and Ball.
Worksop altered their left wing, leaving out Ball and Walker, and substituting Tomlinson and Taylor. Worksop won the Thomas and Denaby had to face the sun. Denaby went across straight from the kick-off. Hancock had a lot of work to do, which he did cleverly. A hot shot from Taylor nearly brought about the downfall of the visitors’ citadel, Hancock having to save at full length, just tipping the ball round the post, and the interval arrived with the score sheet blank.
On resuming Denaby, by the combination of the forwards were enabled to score, and although Scholey got the ball away Padley banged it in again. Scholey got the ball away right enough, but he had hoped it out when the leather was over the line, and the referee was quite justified in allowing the point.
After this play was fast and furious, and the home am attacked strongly, but the defence was superb and the end came with the result: Denaby United 1 goal Worksop 0 goal
