Denaby Wanderers v. Masborough Olympic
Played at Denaby on Saturday, in a hurricane of wind and snow, and before a mere handful of spectators. The Wanderers had the advantage of a strong wind, and Masborough were at once put on the defensive. Ferriday scoring in the first minute. This was followed at intervals by four more points from Dunn, and one each from Meakin and Lawley. At half-time Denaby led by 7 goals to 0.
On resuming, play was more even. The home team, getting down, Wright had hard lines, the ball hitting the cross-bar. Keeping up the pressure, however, Jones scored another goal for the home team.
Shortly after Masborough notched their first point. Jones again did the needful for the Denabyites. Masborough continued to play up, and were rewarded by putting on two more goals.
The homesters now played a good game against the wind, and shortly before time Wright scored again for the Wanderers.
Result: Denaby Wanderers, 10 goals; Masborough, 3 goals.
