Denaby Woman and Baby.
Jane Severn, a married woman of Denaby, appeared at Doncaster on. Tuesday on a summons for being drunk and disorderly on August 12 at Conisboro’. She denied the offence, but admitted being “excited on account of her baby.”
P.c. Rose said he found her lying on a footpath. He told her to get up and she then tried to fight someone.
Defendant said she was pushed down. There would not have been any trouble if she had been given her baby.
The constable said she had taken the child to the father’s house, and they would not let her have it because she was not fit. She then obtained more drink, and went for the baby. She was not fit to be in charge of it. He carried the baby home.
Defendant denied having any drink that day, and she had been knocked on to the pavement just as the policeman arrived. She denied saying “I am going to have my own back,” and there was no reason why the constable should say she was drunk.
It was all lies, but she admitted shouting.
She now had her baby back.
She was fined 9s.
