Denaby’s Fast Bowler
RC Higgins, the Denaby fast bowler who took six LNER wickets on Saturday for 39 runs, has greatly strengthened the Denaby attack in this connection with the club over the last two seasons.
His height and wiry frame are admirably adapted to speed, and he makes good use of them, keeping up a hot pace for surprisingly long spells. With good slick fielding and wicket-keeping to help, he is always a likely wicket taker, for he is not guilty of many bad length balls. HIs best performances in the Yorkshire Council this season before Saturday were six for 53 against Doncaster Town, 6 for 63 against Mexborough, and four for 34 against Frickley.
On the Denaby Whitsun type tour he achieved several creditable performances, notably six for 62 against Mansfield and five for 50 at Chiswick.
He is a powerful hitter, and once he gets on top of the bowling collection runs very quickly.
