Denaby’s Gates.

Denaby’s Gates.

Midland League club can run a successful team if there is not enough support to allow them to do so, for at Denaby the last three home gates have not averaged £20.

The visit of Scarborough realised £26, and last week’s game with Grimsby Town only realised £18. True enough, Denaby is getting some poor support, and some people may think that their recent displays have something to with these reductions.

How many people will realise that it is the junior football in the district that is the cause. Ever since the Sports Allocation Committee of the Denaby and Cadeby Miners’ Welfare began assisting local junior clubs out the funds the gates have dwindled. There are 12 junior clubs in Denaby and two at Conisborough.

Supposing 100 people support each club, that brings the total number of spectators to 1,400, and this number bound to have some effect on Denaby’s gates.

While the Sports Allocation Committee is doing its best to foster junior football it is, at the same time, killing Midland League football.
