Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Friday 17 December 1909
Denaby United 2 Shiregreen 1
These teams were at full strength yesterday for the re-played tie on the Denaby ground, the original game having resulted in a draw two goals each.
There were very few spectators present.
The game was for the most part featureless. Right from the start Denaby were obviously the smarter side, and opened the score early on through Glennon.
Shiregreen were awarded a penalty kick, which J. Brearl converted.
The teams crossed over level. It was only Cowley’s wonderful goalkeepdng which kept Shiregreen on even terms. Ten minutes from time, however, Kelly scored for Denaby with long shot.
Result: Denaby United 2 goals. Shiregreen 1 goal.
