Deputation Waits Upon Manager

A deputation of tbe Denaby Main miners yesterday waited upon the manager (Mr. Chambers).

The reason of this action is that sometimes masters have said, after a strike has ended, ” If you had only sent to ask sooner work might have been resumed earlier.” and the officials of the Yorkshire Miners’ Association were wishful that there should be no excuse this time for any such comment.

The Denaby men did not expect to hear that the terms asked would be agreed upon, and their view was borne out by the result of the interview. But the manager met them agreeably, and said he was equally desirous with the men that work should be soon resumed.

The miners here, as elsewhere, have the strongest belief that to-day will see the close of the irritation and that next Monday will again see the whole of the mines as active as usual.
