Deputy Killed by Fall of Stone

At Mexborough, Mr. Frank Allen inquired into the death of James Edwards (37), colliery deputy, 9, Raikes Street, Mexborough, who was killed in the deep seam of the Denaby Main mine on Sunday afternoon by a fall of stone.

The body was recovered from under a slab of rock weighing from ten to twelve tons.

A verdict of “Accidental death ” was returned.

Sympathy with the widow was expressed, and the inquest fees were handed to her.
