Died After Operation.

Sequel to Accident to Mexborough Man

An inquest was held at Fullerton Hospital, Denaby, on Thursday, on John Thomas Calladine, of Clayfield road, Mexborough, who met with accident in the Denaby pit in February, 1927, when the haulage rope came off the pulley struck his left leg, causing a compound fracture.

Part of the leg was amputated, and in March, this year, a second operation was performed on him at the Fullerton Hospital.

Medical evidence was to the effect that death was due to shock following amputation as a consequence of the injury received and the jury returned a verdict accordingly.
