Doughty Denaby

Having once began to win away from home, Denaby United have developed quite a passion for foreign soil. They were playing at Lincoln on Saturday, and they which they the season they have taken from the city reserve. Denaby won by a goal to nil, but they had sufficient of the play to earn victory by at least three goals to nil, having an apparently legitimate goal disallowed for offside.

The whole of the Denaby team played an improved game, on Saturday’s form should earn far more points than they lose in future.

A Lincoln correspondent, writing of the game says: “The contest between Lincoln city reserves and Denaby United in the cathedral town was not a very exciting affair. The game was played on a snowbound ground, and good football was difficult under such conditions. The visitors were rather the better team, and the superiority was particularly noticeable in the forward line. Hancock, the Denaby goalkeeper gave a good display and cleverly dispose of several difficult shots.”
