Drinking During Prohibited Hours

Arthur Utley and Joseph Oxley, labours of Mexborough, were charged with being drunk on licensed premises, namely, the Station Hotel, Conisborough, during prohibited times on Good Friday, April 16.

Inspector Ambler said, in company with PS Slack, he visited the Conisborough Station Hotel at 4:40 pm on Good Friday, which was during prohibited hours. They were looking around the house, and saw the defendants, who said something to the man at the door and went in. The man at the door said he did not know the two men had only come from Mexborough.

He (witness) had measured the distance from the Station Hotel to the house of defendants, and the distance was to miles 175 yards.

Richard Barnes said he was the doorkeeper at the Station Hotel on Good Friday, and the two men went into the house.

Fined 20 shillings including costs each.
