Drunk and in Danger at Denaby.

Frank Swaby, assistant to Mr  Minskip, greengrocer, Mexborough, was charged with having been drunk when in charge of a pony and cart at Conisborough.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

It was stated that the defendant was very drunk and staggering. He was walking alongside the pony, and had hold of the shaft. A policeman was afraid he would get knocked down and run over, and took him into custody. When he told the man he should lock him up he said “Lock me up then you ——”

The Chairman said the defendant was not only in danger himself by such conduct the safety of the public was also endangered.

Fined 25s, including costs.
