Drunk at Conisborough
Thomas Chiff, pit-sinker, Conisborough, was charged with being drunk and refusing to quit the Station Inn, Conisborough, on November 11th.
Defendant pleaded not guilty.
P.C. Trueman said he was called in to eject the defendant, who was creating an uproar and refused to leave the premises.
The landlord of the house gave corroborative evidence, and in reply to the bench said he could not say that he told the defendant more than once to leave the house.
Chiff pleaded guilty to being drunk, but denied that he made any disturbance or refused to leave the house. When he understood from the policeman that he was required to leave the premises he went away quietly.
This statement was confirmed by the constable, and the summons was dismissed on payment of costs by the defendant.
