Drunkenness
John Barrett was summoned for having been drunk on the 22nd ult. at the Don Hotel, Swinton, and was fined 3s. and costs.
Hy. Mawson, for a similar offence at the Ship Inn, Kilnhurst, on the 26th ult., was fined 5s. and costs. Police-constable Thorton proved the case.
Geo. Hinchliffe said he saw the defendant drunk and assisted to put him out of the house.
Jacob Hawkins was summoned for a similar offence at Station-street, Swinton, on the 20th ult. It was stated that the defendant was lying across the footpath drunk. A fine of 3s. and costs was imposed.
Thos. Gregg, for having been drunk on the 21st ult. at Wath, was fined 5s. and costs.
Geo. Machin was summoned for having been drunk and disorderly on the highway at West Melton on the 20th ult. Police-constable Hutchinson stated that he was on duty in West Melton road opposite the Crown Inn, when the defendant, who was drunk, was attempting to create a quarrel. Police-constable Mearns corroborated. A fine of 3s. and costs was imposed.
Alfred Green was summoned for a like offence at Wath on the 24th ult. Police-constable Hutchinson stated that on the date named he saw the defendant ejected from Livesey’s theatre, and afterwards observed him creating a disturbance in the road. He was fined 10s. and costs.
Wm. Dean, for having been found guilty, was fined 3s. and costs.
Wm. Critchley, for having been drunk and disorderly at Swinton on the 23rd ult., was fined 3s. and costs. Police-constable Midgley stated that he saw the defendant drunk in Fitzwilliam-street, Swinton, on the day named.
John Williams was summoned for a similar offence at Swinton. Police-constable Midgley stated that the defendant was drunk and using very bad language in the public road. He was fined 7s. 6d. and costs.
Fredk. Uttley was summoned for having been drunk and disorderly on the 20th ult. in Bridge-street, Swinton. Eleven previous convictions were proved against the defendant, who was fined 10s. and costs, or 14 days’ imprisonment.
Wm. Judd and Wm. Hobson were summoned for having been drunk at Denaby on the 25th ult. Police-constable Kendal stated that he found the defendants drunk in Doncaster-road, Denaby, on the day in question. Each of the defendants was fined 3s. and costs.
