Drunkenness
Albert Hartley, collier, Denaby, was summoned for being drunk and disorderly in the Market Place, Mexboro’, on the 8th inst.
Police-constable Moore proved the case, and the defendant pleaded guilty and promised amendment.
The Bench imposed a penalty of 10s. and 12s. 6d. costs.
Ellen Ingram, a married woman, of Mexboro’, was summoned on a charge of being drunk and disorderly in the Brickyard, Mexboro’, on the 6th inst.
Defendant did not appear.
Police-constable Webber said that on the above date he was on duty in the brickyard, when he saw the woman drunk and disorderly and using very filthy language, and there was a crowd of people congregated around her.
He requested her to go into the house, but she refused.
He had seen her once before during the evening, and she was then in a drunken condition.
A witness named Wall corroborated the evidence of the constable.
The Bench imposed a penalty of 10s. and 17s. 6d. costs; in default 14 days’ hard labour.
