A Stranger Taken in

George Martin Comer, collier, of Denaby, was charged with being drunk in Mexborough on the second inst

PC Cade deposed that he found the defendant drunk in Orchard Street about our past 11 o’clock, the night previous. He was drunk, and shouting.
As he refused to go home witness locked him up.

Before this witness had showed defendant the way to Denaby.
Defendant said he was a stranger, and did not know the road.
He was one of the new hands at Denaby.

Defendant was fined 6d and 8s 5d costs.

Drunk on the Highway

William Blackburn, sicklesmith, Conisbrough, was summoned for being drunk on the Highway at Conisbrough on the 29th ult.

Defendant did not appear

PC Kendall said he found the defendant lying on the Highway at Conisbrough on the 29th ult helplessly drunk.

PC Codrington gave corroborative testimony and the defendant was fined 10s and 12s 6d costs.
