Elderly Conisbro’ Labourer’s Theft

A 66-year-old farm labourer, Robert Henry Lister of 5, Leslie Avenue, Conisborough was at Doncaster on Saturday bound over for twelve months in the sum of £5 and ordered to pay 10s costs for stealing a blanket valued at 5s 11d from the outside of a pawnshop owned by David Haigh, West Street, Conisboro; on April 6th.

Lister said he did not know what possessed him to steal the blanket. He hoped they would not send him to prison because of his age. He had been drinking the night before committing the offence and had not recovered. He was dazed by having too many glasses after going several years without touching beer.
