Elm Green Ballet “Snow White at Conisbro’
The Conisbrough Elm Green School of Dancing ballet “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” which is being produced in Conisbrough Church Hall this week is the first ballet the school has attempted and the first ballet in this district for some time.
An Old Time Music Hall- show was also staged after the ballet. Included in this were guest artists from Denaby Tom Hill Youth Centre,
The dancing performance of Ruth Willis as Snow White delighted the large audience on the first night on Tuesday. Her interpretation of the lively Snow White, dancing with the Seven Dwarfs was particularly impressive. Margaret Ashurst as the Fairy Queen, -was also very good
The old time music hall show proved very popular, and imitations of many former stage “stars” of the music hall days had the audience in fits of laughter,
Ballet principals, were: Roth Willis (Snow White), Edward Threlkeld (Prince), Pauline Fitton (Queen), Freda Hinchliffe (Huntsman), Margaret Ashurst (Fairy Queen),
Others taking part in the ballet were: Jane Humphries (Doc), Patricia Thomson (Happy), Robert Marshall (Grumpy), Patricia Crossland (Dopey), Margaret Waters (Sneezy), Janet Knowles (Bashful), Jill Skelton (Sleepy), Anne Askew (Page), Jean Knowles, Barbara Burgoyne, Deidre Peck, Barbara Blacklock, Carol Handley, Heather Ray, Joy Bramham, Silvia Waters, Jacqueline Skelton, Moira Mahon, Wendy Clark, Irene McCutchin, Eunice Jones, Christine Hall and Jennifer Boyson.
Guest artists from the Tom Hill youth club were Jean Godber, Christine Lovell, Wilfred Revill, Brian Bates and John Dufty.
The principal of the school Mr Eric Smith (who produced the ballet and the show) also took part in the Old Time Music Hall.
The show continues today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday)
