Expensive Mushrooms at Conisbro’
On Saturday, at Doncaster, an old man, named Robert Cooper, was charged with having done wilful damage to grass at Conisbro’, the complainant being Wm. Bradbury, a farmer.
The defendant was in search of mushrooms at the time of the alleged damage.
The complainant said hundreds of people went about his fields and he was pestered to death with them.
The defendant : I only went for a few mushrooms, and I went away as soon as he told me, after giving him the mushrooms.
Defendant was ordered to pay 1s. damages and £1. 0s. 6d. costs, 14 days in default.
