Extraordinary Conduct at Denaby

Yesterday, at Doncaster West Riding Court, John Lang, filler, Denaby, was charged with assaulting Police-constable Lockwood at Denaby on Monday night.

The officer stated that he was going along the main road at 11 o’clock when the defendant came in the opposite direction in company with a young man. The constable stepped on one side to let him pass, when defendant said “Watch me give this —— the knock-out,” and struck him a violent blow on the left ear. Witness closed with him, and finally Police-constable Parry came to his assistance, and the man was locked up.

Defendant, who said he had mistaken the man, was fined 40s. or 14 days to prison.
