Emma Wood, married woman, Conisborough, was summoned for assaulting Annie Elizabeth Andrews, a married woman, living at Mexborough on 4 July.
Complainant stated that on the above date she and her husband met the defendant who struck her on the arm and tried to knock her hat off.
In defence Mrs Wood said that she had brought complainant up from being a child and had been a good mother to her. Complainant’s husband stripped her box and took some money out of it with which they bought the hat the girl was wearing.
