Fatal Accident at Cadeby Main Colliery Yesterday

A very sad fatal accident occurred at the Cadeby Main Colliery yesterday morning, whereby a Pony driver named John Oldfield (15) residing with his parents at Conisbrough lost his life in a painfully shocking manner.

From what can be gathered it appeared the youth was accidentally knocked down and run over by some corves near the pit bottom, where he was working, his body being badly mutilated and his head almost severed from his body.

The accident is rendered still more painful by the fact that the man who found him, Mr F Guest, was completely beside himself, and had to be conveyed home in a state of total mental aberration and restrained from violence.

An inquest will be held in due course
