Fatal End of an Accident at Denaby Main.

Mr. D. Wightman, district coroner, held an inquest at Mexborough yesterday respecting the death of a Denaby miner named Leake.

It appeared that on the 16th March last he was working in the pit when an accident happened and he had his back injured. For a time he ceased work, but then again resumed.

He was, however, taken ill again, and Mr. Twigg, who attended him, found that he had a severe inflammation, and that the spine was affected. The doctor could not positively state that death was due to natural causes, or whether it was the result of the accident, though he believed it primarily resulted from the accident.

The jury returned a verdict that the deceased had died from the injuries accidentally received at the Denaby Main Colliery.

The deceased was a member of the Miners’ Permanent Relief Fund, and leaves a widow and family.
