25-year-old wife of petty officer, Mrs HJ Ball, formerly of 29 Denaby Avenue, Conisbrough is flying out to Singapore today (Friday). She joining her husband P.O. H.J.Ball, with to be stationed in Singapore for the next two years on shore station.

She is the second member of her family to do long-distance flying; her brother, a regular soldier at the time, was injured in the Korean War and was flown home via Singapore.

A small bungalow awaits Mrs Ball on herarrival in Singapore.

“I’m looking forward to it, but I’m not looking forward to flying,” she told a reporter yesterday.

After leaving school, Mrs Ball became a nurse, and it was while she was working at the Royal Portsmouth hospital, that she met her husband.

Mr Ball joined the Navy as a boy of 16. He is now 26 and was posted to Singapore 11 weeks ago.
