Game Trespass at High Melton
Charles William Reed, a miner, of Conisborough, and John Stokes, a miner, of Mexborough was summoned for trespassing in search of game at High Melton November 3.
PC Belton said that two keepers and two policemen were on duty at Duck Pond plantation, High Melton, when they heard shots fired. They went into the woods to investigate. The two defendants came out, jumped on their cycles, and attempted to ride away. Reed was unable to do so, though Stokes got away
Reed said the game found in his possession was given to him by another man. Stokes said he was in bed at the time.
Reed was ordered to pay 40/– inclusive, and Stokes 26/6 inclusive.
