Gaol for Negligent Father
James Donohue, miner, of Highgate, was charged, at Doncaster, yesterday, with neglecting his four children, and with failing to pay contributions under a magisterial order for maintenance of his wife and family.
On November 1st prisoner’s wife was granted a separation order, with 40s. a week and custody of the children. Outside the Court, following the case, prisoner threatened his wife, and when he got home took possession of the house and children.
He sold part of the furniture and drank the proceeds, and on November 17th left the children in the house alone Denaby, and cleared off.
A warrant was issued, and he was apprehended three months’ after his disappearance. The prisoner was sent to gaol for three months’ in each case, the sentences to run concurrently.
