“Gassed” at Colliery

Mr. Albert Frost met his death last Saturday morning through being “gassed” whilst working at Edlington Colliery.

The fatality occurred about 11 o’clock in the morning. Deceased was 51 years of age, and lived at 81, Victoria road, Edlington. He was well known in Conisboro’, where he had spent the greater part of his life. Much sympathy is expressed towards his wife and seven children, left to mourn their loss.

The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon. The body was carried along Victoria road by six old comrades, to its last resting-place in Edlington Churchyard. A beautiful wreath, which had been subscribed for by sympathising friends from Conisboro’, was sent as a tribute of respect, and much appreciated by the widow and family.

A large number of people assembled to witness the funeral, many of whom were from Conisboro’. Mr. Jones, Edlington, had charge of the funeral arrangements, and Mr. A. Lowe, Conisboro’ supplied the carriages.
