Gift To Manager
On Saturday evening at the Colliery Officials’ Club Mr. W. Mitchell, undermanager of Cadeby Colliery, presided when a presentation was made to Mr. J. Halford, the former undermanager, who is now manager of the Denaby Colliery.
The gift, which consisted of a case of cutlery with a convertible lid which formed a tray, was inscribed, “Presented to Mr. J. Halford by the Officials and Staff of the Cadeby Main Colliery on his leaving to take up an appointment as Manager at Denaby Main Colliery, June, 1942.”
It had been subscribed for by surface and underground officials.
Mr. D. Cowburn. Agent-Manager of Cadeby Colliery, made the presentation and with the Chairman, paid tribute to Mr. Halford and his work at the Cadeby Colliery during the years he had been there and expressed the good wishes of all concerned for success and happiness in his new sphere of work.
Mr. Halford suitably responded.
