Girl Killed as Bus Hits Cyclists

Denaby Man Escapes

Doroth’y White (18), of Albert Road, Mexborough, was killed when she was knocked from her bicycle in Rowms Lane, Swinton, last night, by a trolley bus driven by George Alfred Norris (35), of Oliver Street, Parkgate.

Another cyclist, Robert Evans (42), a maintenance fitter, of Marr Street, Denaby Main, had a lucky escape, as the bus swerved in an attempt to avoid White, he was knocked headlong and his bicycle was trapped under a front wheel of the bus.

Miss White, who was treated at the scene the accident by Dr. I. Campbell, was dead on arrival at hospital. She was employed at the Swinton works of the General Electricity company, 300 yards from the point where the accident occurred.
