Golden Wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goulding, of 8, Wellgate, Conisbrough, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Monday with a small family get-together.
Formerly of Denaby, they have lived in Wellgate for about 18 months. Mr. Goulding (71) who was born and educated in Mexborough, retired from Denaby Colliery telephone exchange in 1962. He had worked as a miner and official at Denaby Colliery all his working life, and, for a period during the First World War, served in the Yorks and Lancaster Regiment.
During his active interest in sport, he was one of the founders of the Denaby Rovers Junior Football Club in 1919 and acted as trainer.
For over 30 years he has been connected with Fullerton Hospital, Denaby and for a substantial period served on the General Hospital Committee and is now on the Voluntary Comforts Fund Committee.
Mr. Goulding is Vice-Chairman of Denaby Hickleton Street Community Centre and is their delegate to the Local Old People’s Welfare Committee. Mrs Clara Goulding (70), was born in Denaby and lived on Doncaster Road, prior to removal to Con Conisbrough. They were ‘married at_ Denaby Parish Church in 1919 and have three children, Mrs Florry Jackson, Mrs Freda Carton and Mr Samuel Goulding.
