Golden Wedding.

On Friday two old residents of Denaby, Mr. and Mrs W. E. Stocks, celebrated their Golden Wedding, anniversary. They live at 57, Firbeck Street. Mr. Stocks was born at Tickhill and Mrs. Stocks in Nottinghamshire, but they have lived for 45 years in Denaby.

Mr. Stocks, who retired five years ago at the age of 67 had worked at Denaby Main Colliery from the age of 19.

Mr. and Mrs. Stocks have four sons, three daughters and 22 grandchildren, eleven girls and eleven boys.

Questioned by our reporter about her life in Denaby, Mrs. Stocks said: “I like Denaby. I like the people.” Since his retirement, Mr. Stocks has spent a lot of time gardening and is often to be seen at work In the Vicarage garden close by. Mrs. Stocks prefers indoor hobbles such as knitting and reading.

Many good wishes and congratulations have reached the couple from, numerous friends and relatives and Mrs. Stocks has been quite touched by the way so many old friends had remembered them.
