Gunner Dead

Yesterday (Thursday) Mr. W. Burdett, of 177, Tickhill Street, Denaby, received official notification that his son, Gnr. Kenneth Burdett (27), was in the S.S. Lisbon Maru, when it was sunk, and that his son is dead.
The notification came as a great shock to Mr. Burdett, because on Monday he received a postcard from his son stating that he had managed to scrape through, that he could not say much about himself, but was hoping to see his father soon.
Gnr. Burdett had been in the Army about nine years, some seven years of which he had been at Hong Kong.
