Hanging on to a Pony’s Tail

Driver’s Offence at Denaby

Harold Turner, a driver, of Wellington St, Mexborough, was charged with cruelty to a pony in December 19 at Denaby Pit.

Mr Frank Allen prosecuted on behalf of the Denaby Colliery Company.

The evidence showed that the defendant annoyed the pony in the pit by hanging on to its tail. This caused the animal to kick out, with the result that the defendant was seriously injured, and was ill for a fortnight.

The defendant gave a blank denial of the offence.

Audits pay 15 shillings, inclusive, or seven days.
