Hard Swearing At Doncaster

In a case of assault heard at Doncaster, Saturday, the defendant alleged great provocation, and there was some hard swearing.

The defendant, Robert Marsden, collier. New Conisborough, was charged with assaulting George Henry Allott, collier, on the 19th inst.

Mr. F. Allen defended.

It was alleged that complainant went to defendant’s house and asked for the defendant. His wife said he was at work, and complainant replied that would meet him in the pit lane and” “wipe the street with him.” He further told the defendant’s wife that he would do six months for her.

When defendant met the complainant struck the latter across the head.

The complainant flatly denied that had been defendant’s house at all, although the defendant, his wife, and another witness distinctly stated that was there.

The case was dismissed.
