He Had Been After the Rabbits

Samuel Robinson, miner, Denaby, was charged, under the poaching prevention act, with coming from land known to contain game and having game in his possession, at Conisborough, on 18 September.

Sgt Brown met him at 6-50 in the evening on the Low road at Conisborough, coming from the direction of Conisborough cliffs, and, suspecting that he had come from land he searched him and found six nets, a ferret, and line, a pick, and three rabbits. Defendant offered him half a sovereign if he would not say anything.

A fine of 20s, and costs was imposed, and the nets, etc, were forfeited,
