Helping Their “Wedding Church”
Denaby Wants £1000 For Couples Aid Appeal

Couples who were married at Denaby Parish Church are to have an opportunity of helping their “wedding church” by contributing towards the Vicar’s scheme to raise £1,000 for church funds. At a meeting of the Parish Church Council on Tuesday Vicar the Rev. Fred Herring’s the presiding, outlined ‘ his plan”’ by which he hopes to raise this sum It was suggested that members of the church should be responsible for visiting in the parish anyone who is on the Electoral Roll or anyone who claims “C. of E.” as his or her religion and try to persuade’ these people to make a gift of £1 each.

Various suggestions were made and it was also mentioned that the appeal might take in anyone who was married at Denaby Parish Church (some of whom might now have left the district) and from a sentimental aspect would like to support their “Wedding Church”. They would be welcomed as donors.

Last year the church had to borrow from the Renovation Fund about £600 for the new heating apparatus and the church members are anxious to replace this. With other commitments to meet, the money is urgently needed to keep the church in a good financial position.

It was decided to call a meeting of all church members for Thursday June 19th, to discuss the proposition further and the method of collecting gifts. In the meantime anyone interested can send the Vicar donations at any time and he will be pleased to accept them on behalf of the scheme.
