Illegal Use of Pit Lamps
John Evans, miner, Denaby, was charged with a breach of colliery rules, by neglecting to examine his lamp before entering Denaby Main Colliery, on February 26th.
Mr. H. H. Hickmott prosecuted, and Mr. W. E. Clegg defended.
When defendant reached the bottom of the shaft the official there noticed that his lamp was unlocked.
It was submitted for defence at a nominal fine would meet the case.
Fined 10 shillings and costs
