An Interrupted Donkey Race
On Saturday, at Doncaster West Riding Court, Edward Mills, ice cream vendor, and John Henry Briggs, glass hand, both of Conisborough were charged with furiously driving at Warmsworth, on the 12th.
From the evidence of the police, it appeared that the defendants were engaged in a donkey race on Warmsworth Road and were going at 11 to 12 miles an hour. There were 80 to 100 persons present. On seeing the police they went off to Conisborough.
Mills was fined 20 shillings and Briggs 25 shillings, the latter being further ordered to pay costs for using bad language.
