Irish Social

Members of the Irish community Denaby and Conisborough were transported back their native land last night, when the first of series of Ceilidhe was held under the auspices St. Alban’s Catholic Church.

Father J Holohan told the Daily Independent that a Ceilidhe was the Irish counterpart of the English social, and was a gaelic word and was pronounced Kay-Ie-

Hornpipes, reels, and jigs were danced to the music of flutes, and violins. Irish songs were also sung.
