Denaby have for some time been regarded as one of the stronger batting sides of the Yorkshire Council, and much of this reputation is due to a strong first wicket pair, Tibbles and Greenwood. Irving Greenwood, the big, cheery draughtsman, as played many splendid innings for Denaby and is usually good to watch unless circumstances demand stern restraint, when he can play his part two.

On Saturday he hit 72 off the LNER bowling. He apparently likes it for the preceding Saturday he played his biggest innings of the season (81) against the same bowling. His previous best of the season in the Yorkshire Council was an unfinished 56 against Frickley, but on the Denaby tour in week Whit week, he scored freely, making 153 in five completed innings, is biggest been 67 not out against Keble College Oxford
